If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am obsessed about technology. I am always fascinated by the latest technologies and if I had a Million Dollars, I would own every single one of them. When it comes to travel, I can leave without my boxers or toothbrush but I cannot AND will not forget to take our trusty travel gadgets. OK, of course, I can always buy the former items but you get what I mean.

Sony Alpha 5000

After accidentally dousing our first Sony camera (the NEX-3) in the ocean, we were without a decent camera for a while. That was until after our trip to Africa, when we realized how badly we needed one again. Also at that time we were just planning to start up our blog so it was a no-brainer.

We decided to return the Sony NEX-3 to the shop and were able to get the newer model at a 20% discount, which is the Sony Alpha ILCE 5000. It was costing the same amount to get the old one fixed!

Anyways, so we never leave home without this now. It’s got amazing photo and video features and we love it mainly because it is compact, has a built-in WiFi (perfect for quickly getting those shots on to our Instagram) and has a got a tilting 3-inch screen for self portraits.

GoPro Hero 3+ with accessories

You never know when you’re going to go for an awesome adventure. Perhaps it’s all the time but it can also be spontaneous! In that instance, you’re going to want a sports camera and to us, there’s nothing better than a GoPro. It’s compact, lightweight and perfect for all sorts of activities where any other camera wouldn’t be ideal to bring.

Coupled with the mounts and accessories it comes with, the GoPro is a must carry for any trip, not just for adventures. We were so glad we had this awesome camera when we went to Koh Tao for a snorkeling trip. It gave us pretty epic footage of the marine life. It even came handy in South Africa while touring through the Game Drive as we were able to take some cool wide-angle shots with it.

Even if you think you’re trip isn’t going to be all that exciting, you never know what happens. Having that GoPro mounted to the car dashboard or your motorcycle helmet might just capture some amazing footage. You never know!

Don’t take our word for it. Just check out these 15 reasons why everyone wants (or has) a GoPro.

Update: we actually lost our GoPro in Chiang Mai and since they can be a bit expensive, we decided to go for a cheaper option. You can too with these 5 alternatives.

Macbook

If I had to write my blogs when we return from our trips, there would be so much to write at one go. I might not remember the whole experience.

This is why it is so important for us to carry at least one laptop, depending on whether it is a luxurious trip or a more adventurous one.

We also take vlogs of most of our trips so all the clips need to go on a device where we can organize them and even start putting together the footage as we go along. Trust me, you don’t want to do all of this AFTER your trip. The MacBook Air is the perfect companion as it is lightweight and small enough to fit in a large handbag or backpack. On trips where we aren’t shifting/moving around too much, I carry my MacBook Pro as well.

Portable Charger(s)

A must-carry when you’re off traveling to remote destinations where it’s not so easy to find a power socket. We use our electronics to the max when travel since we like to take a lot of pictures and videos. This drains the battery quite fast. So having that portable battery pack is essential. I like to carry at least two fully-charged ones.

They come in lots of sizes, shapes and power capacity, so it is best to do your research of the best ones. I like to carry one that is sleek and small but might not have high charging speed and another one that is a bit bulkier but can charge my devices a few times.

Mobile Phone(s)Nokia

This is an ultimate no-brainer because who doesn’t carry a phone with them wherever they go, right? But apart from a smartphone, which is a lifesaver in so many ways with the plethora of travel and genius Google apps that come along with it, I also like to carry a classic handset  in case of emergencies. Sometimes even the portable battery packs run out and it’s good to have that extra phone that won’t run out of battery quickly.
