Whether you’re passing through or living in Bangkok, with Valentine’s just around the corner, I’m sure we are all pretty sick of doing the typical dinner and movie date or going for a Thai massage. Well at least half of us. Seriously, been there, done that, no?

For those daring to be different and immersing in a unique (and in some cases, weird) ways to spend their time with that special someone, here’s a list of date options for you for Valentine’s day in Bangkok.

Biking, Dining and Staying at Bang Krachao

Shayan and I first found out about this place last year and we fell in love with it. Bang Krachao is a known as the green lung of Bangkok and over here you won’t see many cars or city-like developments. You’re free to rent a bicycle, roam around, visit the local markets, eat food and soak in the nature.

While there, don’t forget to make your way to the Bangkok Tree House for a quaint lunch or drinks amongst the natural beauty. If you want to make it extra special, you can even the spend the night there. They have a few rooming options as you nestle up within and above the trees. If eco resorts are your thing, you will absolutely love this place.

Dive with the sharks

What’s more romantic than going through an adrenaline rush with your significant other? OK, for many it might not be but it is sure one hell of a way to bond and take your love to the next level.

At Siam Paragon’s Ocean World, you can dive together with the sharks and other amazing underwater species. Although we haven’t tried it ourselves, we think it beats a boring movie date, which you can do any day of the year.

Brunch + Rooftop Bar

Not the most unique way to spend Valentine’s day but it is certainly one of the top things to do in Bangkok. There are just so many restaurants and rooftop bars that are probably in on all the Valentine’s festivities with some great promotional offers. We recommend trying out the brunch with some tea or coffee  at Karma Kamet in Sukhumvit soi 24 or Casa Lapin in Sukhumvit soi 26.

After that you probably want to hit one of the other items from list before heading up to a rooftop bar to finish the day in style. We really love Scarlett at the Pullman G hotel, Octave at Marriott Sukhumvit and Above 11 in Sukhumvit soi 11. They all have incredible views to be enjoyed with delicious food and drinks. If you feel splurging a bit extra, you can go up to the Sky bar at Lebua (yes, the one from the Hangover II movie).

Take a Thai Cooking Class

cooking in Bangkok

One of the best way to spend a day with your loved one is surely eating out at a restaurant but what about spending some quality time in the kitchen? You know what they say,

“Couples Who Cook Together, Stay Together”

and that is because you learn together, you have to communicate to get the recipe right and most of all you get to reap the rewards of your cooking together.

You can take cooking classes with Bangkok Thai Cooking or Amita Thai Cooking. If you don’t want to give Thai food a try, why not give a go at Indian cuisine with Mrs. Balbir?

Visit the forensic museum

I know what you’re thinking. “Are you kidding me!?”

Although not for the faint heart, couples who are interested in morbidity or affliction to the “strange” will definitely love this. We asked some friends if they would go with their bfs/gfs or husband/wife, and they all said “Hell yea”. So maybe we’re all bored of the same old romantic stuff and want to spend Valentine’s in a more adventurous and unique way.

At the forensic museum, known as the Siriraj Medical Museum, you’ll see some really strange, weird and gruesome stuff. You’re not allowed to take photos there so you can really immerse yourself in seeing the exhibits. Also, sadly it is closed on Sundays, but there’s always the next day. Who said you have to share the love only on Valentine’s Day?

We hope you like our list and try at least one of these interesting things. Let us know how it goes or if you have any other cool ideas.
