You guys probably know by now how much Shayan loves music festivals. We both do, but Shayan enjoys them a bit too much. It’s also a curse because there are too many out there now. If you’re just like him and you’re around for the next two months, then you would be interested to know there are quite a few music festivals to attend in Bangkok.

These are the top 6 (plus a bonus one at the end) that you should consider checking out.

Waterzonic

First up and definitely a short notice on this list is Waterzonic. This is a music festival that happens every year. Sometimes twice. Once during Songkran (in April) and then again later in the year. This is their 6th year running, so you know it’s going to be good!

It’s the only water music festival you will find after Songkran so if you’re tired of the heat in Bangkok, definitely hit this one up as there will be water shooting out from big cannons from the stage into the crowds. Trust me, if you’ve never been to a water music festival, this is a must-attend.

As for the lineup, Yellow Claw, Nicky Romero, and Excision are set to be the headliners. Other artists in the lineup are Wildstylez, Boombox Cartel, MakJ and more. This 2-day festival not only has a great lineup but I’d definitely go to cool off and party with some sponsored Chang beers.

Date: Oct 4 – Oct 5
Venue: Show DC
Tickets: apparently, they are sold out on the website but I am sure you will find someone selling on Facebook or at the event.

OMG Oh My Ghost

Even Halloween deserves a music festival. It’s the perfect time for people to dress up as their favorite scary (or sexy) character and rave!

I believe this is the 2nd year for OMG Oh My Ghost. I went to the event last year and it was quite fun. Read about what to expect at OMG Oh my Ghost. I dressed up with a neon light-up mask – something like in the Purge.

This year the lineup features JAUZ, Slushii, Sikdope, Woolii, Dabin, Make You Freak, SURA. From the list, I only know of Make you Freak but that is the cool thing about festivals. I (partly) go to discover new artists and their music.

I’ll be going again this year and plan on dressing up like IT the clown but in my own version.

Date: Oct 26
Venue: BITEC
Ticket: 1,500 THB for general and 3,500 for VIP

Future Sounds of Egypt 600: Sands of Time

If you’ve never heard of Future sounds of Egypt, where have you (including us) been? But then again, this is (y)our chance to experience something unique. FSOE is like the State of Trance but from Egypt. It is a weekly radio show hosted by Egyptian trance DJs and producers Aly & Fila.

Well, they are coming to Bangkok for a massive show with an epic lineup consisting of Ahmed Romel, Aly & Fila, David Forbes B2B Mark Sherry, James Dymond B2B Sneijder, John O’ Callaghan, Paul Thomas, Solarstone and The Noble Six.

I actually really want to go to see what the setup would be like. If they would have any Egypt-themed props and design. That would be cool.

One of the guys behind this is the same one who brought Dontri Festival and the fact that it is a partnership with FSOE, it should be a fantastic event.

Date: Nov 9 – Nov 10
Venue: Centerpoint Studio, Sukhumvit 105
Tickets: starting from 2,200 THB to 3,400 THB. VVIP table with packages is 38,000 THB for 6 people.

Very Festival

I don’t know much about this one because not a lot has been shared but it seems pretty cool. It is the first and only rock music concert in this list so that should make some people happy. We agree that Thailand focuses too much on EDM and techno. Not enough on rock or hip hop, which is a shame.

Anyways, they advertise it as “a global gathering of world-class music acts, over 2 days of fantastic musical performances from 20 artists”. That sounds pretty dope to me.

From the lineup, I sort of recognize the Kooks and Nothing but Thieves, both of which are indie/alternative bands from England. Rockers, don’t miss out on this event!

Date: Nov 16 – Nov 17
Venue: Show DC
Tickets: Regular passes are 3,600 THB (limited tickets. After they are sold out, the price will change to a Regular Tier 2 Price which isn’t available yet)

808 Festival

Now, this is another event that has been happening for a few years in Bangkok. 808 Festival is one of Thailand’s leading and iconic music festival for trance, techno, and EDM lovers.

I was there in 2018 and it was pretty sick. I met some cool people, both locals, and travelers. I also got to see one of my favorite DJ ever – Armin Van Burren. In 2017, Axwell and Above & Beyond were headlining. Here is a list of all past performers.

Unfortunately, right now there is no information about the event. No ticket prices or sales. No lineup. Nothing. Which is weird because it’s scheduled to happen in 2 months. When will all this be announced, I wonder? For such a massive event, it should have been out months ago.

Date: Dec 6 – Dec 8
Venue: BITEC B-Square
Tickets: no info yet so keep checking their Facebook event page.

Neon Countdown

What better way to end the new year than with a music festival…well if you are into music festivals at all. A party at a club or house is great but a music festival is even better and Bangkok is having a big one.

As the event page says “Tick tock goes the clock, where will you be when the beat drops? Dance your way into the New Year!” That’s exactly what we hope to be doing this year…if we are not traveling at that time.

There is no lineup yet but keep checking their Facebook event page for updates.

Date: Dec 30-31
Venue: Show DC
Tickets: right now tickets are on sale (35% early bird) at 2,500 THB. Buy them now before they get really expensive!

Bonus: Wonderfruit

You cannot have a list of music festivals and not include Wonderfruit. This is a bonus because of 1. it’s not in Bangkok and 2. we’ve never been to one ourselves. For the past two years, we have dreamed about going and experiencing Wonderfruit. Some people call it the Coachella or the burning man of Asia.

It’s apparently the biggest festival in Thailand that runs for 4 days hosting all types of music, performances, art shows, food and lifestyle experiences. It’s not a music festival. It’s so much more than that.

People tent out or stay in accommodations at the festival and do all kinds of ideation workshops while enjoying their favorite music. It’s something we just really want to see for ourselves.

Wonderfruit also promotes sustainability and wellness, which is great. So, anyone who is into the creative arts, positivity, music, mindfulness, peace, love, and community-building, this is the event to be at.

Their website and Facebook are chock-full of lots of information. Very impressive stuff!

Date: Dec 12 – Dec 16
Venue: The Fields at Siam Country Club Pattaya
Tickets: price varies depending on phases and what kind of pass you want. So keep checking the ticketing page. Starting price at the moment is 5,900 THB for a weekend pass until November 5th.

WOW. Too many events?

I think so too. It’s hard to decide which one to go because if we went to all of them, we would be broke. This is just in Bangkok for the next 2 months…that is insane. I haven’t even mentioned music fests in Chiang Mai, Koh Tao, Koh Mak, and Phuket.

So which one will you go to? Let us know in the comments below.

Important. if you do go to any of these, pay attention to their rules or Do’s and Don’ts. For example, most of them don’t have reentry, so if you leave for the day, you can’t come back in until the next day (if you have multi-day passes). Also, take note of what is allowed and what is not.
